I’m back after a very long and stressful week. I flew up to Durban early on Tuesday morning, drove to Pietermaritzburg (what a beautiful town!)for two corporate portraits, drove back to Durban in the afternoon and then flew to Johannesburg. I was welcomed at my hotel by a guy disguised in a balaclava with a really big gun in hand. I promptly turned the little rental car around and floored the poor thing out the parking lot. It was then that I heard the shot…. At that moment I was REALY tempted to drive back to the airport and just go back home.
I later learned that he actually shot someone and then took his car! What really shocked me was that when I told the story to a couple of people that live in/around Joburg their response basically came down to “Welcome in Joburg”
That place is not seeing me anytime soon….
Anyway, after my hearty welcome I did another couple of portraits in the JHB area on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday I shot the Nikkah of Somayya and Dariush in Pretoria and their AMAZING reception on Saturday evening at the African Butler. I will be posting their photos really soon, but I first have two other weddings to process.
Below a really angry little fresh water crab – this was the first time I used my new 40D’s live preview function…..
