With Bernard shooting more and more weddings under his own name and Emma finishing her studies and getting a fulltime job I have a position available for an assistant/second shooter.
This is a ‘part time’ position to assist me (mostly) on Saturdays. You need to be eager (but not irritating), confident (but not cocky), have some basic knowledge about photography and most importantly be willing to learn. Ideally (but not required) you would have your own camera (40D or better), preferably Canon, one or two decent lenses. Live relatively close to Cape Town, have your own transport and be available during the week.
It’s hard work and the pay is not great in the beginning BUT you will have the opportunity to learn things like off camera flash, shooting manual as well as all the little inside ‘tips and tricks’ of the industry.
Please email your CV with a cover letter to jobs@prophotography.co.za as well as a link to an online portfolio (if you have one).

Today exactly four years ago I photographed my very first ‘paid’ wedding. I only had a 20D with two very slow lenses, a flash and no backup equipment. Yep, I was a true weekend warrior!. Looking back I never ever could have imagined the amazing journey that would follow. All I knew then was that I loved it and couldn’t believe that I could actually make money from my ‘hobby’! Later this month I’m shooting my 200th wedding and I would lie if I said the last four years wasn’t hard work. But it was SO worth every bit! I’m grateful to be able to do a job that I love.
All I can only say is a very, very big, from the bottom of my heart thank you to everyone who supported and believed in me. But my biggest thank you is to my beautiful wife who unconditionally supported me and sacrificed so much for me to follow my dream.
Here’s to the future….
